Mad Max: Fury Road

Yesterday I was at the cinema and I want to give you a quick and concise review of "Mad Max: Fury Road". It's a visually stunning film, with an excellent soundtrack, packed with action, stunts and practical effects nicely mixed with CGI. What I didn't like were oversaturated colors - they didn't fit to the universe of "Mad Max" and because of them the movie lacked this special, overwhelming post-apocalyptic atmosphere and dirty look of the previous installments. Also Tom Hardy (who apparently played merely a supporting role) was only mediocre - sometimes trying too hard to be Mel Gibson, other times just performing strange facial expressions. The film was more about Charlize Theron's character Furiosa than about Max, so maybe it should have been titled otherwise. I'm eagerly awaiting the B&W version the director George Miller promised to be included on the Blu-ray edition (which he claims is the best version of the movie).

To conclude, "Mad Max: Fury Road" is a good film, but after reading and watching so many exquisite reviews, I've expected more. It's no match for the second part "The Road Warrior" (which received from me a rating of 9/10), but certainly worth watching at the cinema.

Rating: 7/10
